Celebration on Water
On May 12, we went on a little excursion with our friend and event planner, Jenna (of Revel Events), to check out the new wedding and event venue, Celebration on Water. It’s essentially a large historic ferry boat, docked in North Vancouver, entirely redone and updated to be a gorgeous and unique venue for special events.
The Starboard Aft Lounge has room to shake your bootie over to the bar for a drink in between dances and the Forward Lounge (Star Trek TNG, anyone?) has room for a delightful dinner, all after the ceremony out on the deck with gorgeous 360 views of the North Shore mountains, downtown Vancouver, and Stanley Park! You cannot beat this view!!
The team there has thought of everything - There’s even suede on the ceilings! We were particularly impressed with the Bride’s room for getting ready – a chaise lounge completes it. There’s also a honeymoon room for a newly married couple to stay on the boat overnight after their wedding!
We have just a few pictures to show you for now. The real showcase will come after we have the honour of being the first to shoot a wedding there on May 28th! Stay tuned.

New West Pride! and Lady Gaga!
So, our good friend Chris Queer is the VP of the Royal City Pride Society in New Westminster.
We were involved in New Westminster’s first ever Pride celebration last year and this year’s theme is Follow the Rainbow and it’s going to be bigger and better!
This Sunday April 10th, 2011, there’ll be a fundraiser, Raise Your Pride, for this year’s celebrations, at Shiloh United Church, 1105 6th Ave, New West. Doors at 630pm, show at 7pm.
There will be performances by The Singles, the Out in Harmony choir, Kate Reid, and Cera Rivers live as Lady Gaga! If you haven’t seen Cera Rivers, you have to – she is amazing!! We were blown away by her performance last year as Cher! This might be as close as Lady Gaga gets to performing in New West, so check it out!!

WPPI Vegas 2011
We had the amazing good fortune to attend WPPI in February. For the uninitiated, WPPI is an international association of wedding and portrait photographers to which we belong. The association holds a yearly trade show and lecture series with rockstar photographers and vendors from across the world!
In the next little while, we’ll be posting more detailed blogs about our adventures in Las Vegas but, for today, just a little taste of our time at WPPI.

Old Friends – One Year Later

We were tickled to be invited to celebrate this little guy’s one year birthday!
We first ‘met’ him during his parents’ maternity shoot. Then we were delighted when they asked us to snap shots of the wee one as a newborn.
Imagine how fun it was for us to see how Mr. M has grown into a little man! We’re enjoying watching him learn and explore!
Happy birthday, little one!

Pink Party for the cure
Cancer touches all our lives and so, when we heard that our friend and event planner Jenna (of Revel Events) was planning a Pink Party for the Cure to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, we were tickled pink to be a part of it.
Pink drinks were made specifically upon request by the friendly staff at Public Lounge Eatery on Main, based on Jenna’s brilliant thematic ideas – personally, the “I didn’t mint to stare” was a fave. Money was raised through the pink drinks, via donations into the adorable little pink piggy banks, and through photos we took that attendees could download or order as prints.
A fun time was had by all. Thanks to Jenna for a great evening for a great cause!

Royal City Pride
On August 8, 2010, we had the distinct honour of being photographers for the closing ceremony show for New Westminster’s first ever gay pride event! It was a fantastic event, produced flawlessly by the funny and awesome Chris Queer. Having gay friends and family members, we were moved by the outpouring of support for Royal City Pride. It was a great event and bodes well for bigger and better things next year! Congrats to all who participated and thanks to everyone who supported the show.
These are just a few pics – more to come!

The awesome Sibel Trasher.

Paul – what a fantastic saxophone player. Improv/jazz – sooo good. We were really impressed!

Miss Jude – she did a dramatic musical theatre piece.
