Semiha and Tarek Sneak Peek
Semiha and Tarek were married in September in a lovely, intimate Muslim ceremony – with Semiha wearing traditional Serbian clothing to reflect her heritage. She then changed into a traditional”Western” bridal gown and away we went on location snapping pics around Vancouver!
The result? A gorgeous ceremony and day with a gorgeous couple. Check out the detail on Semiha’s traditional wedding outfit! Envy!

New Year, New Location!
Happy New Year!! Happy new digs!!
As we move happily into 2012, we here at bhp are all a-flurry of excitement! Not only was the big man in the red suit just here but we have moved into new digs! Business is booming so we’ve said goodbye to our tiny-but-cute studio in South Granville and bought a house!
We’ve set up in beautiful Port Moody! We fell in love with the area when we were here shooting Ashley and Sheldon’s wedding in the summer and we have already told them that we blame them for making us buy a house here!
Seriously though, the gorgeous views, the water and beaches, and still we’re close to everything in the big city!
We’re delighted to announce therefore that we have a new place to see clients in the Tri-Cities – Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam – and well as outlying cities!
We’re still always in Vancouver (and around the general GVRD), too, so don’t fret. We just have more flexibility than ever as to where we can meet our clients!
So, choose a snazzy Gastown office, a cosy Port Moody locale, or anywhere in between – we’re here for you when and where you need us. (And you can still reach us by our same phone number: 778-918-8307). See you soon!
For now, have an awesome holiday season from bOB and Jen at bOB HOmer photography!

Rita and Jack at the Dockside Lounge
After having shot a wedding at the Dockside restaurant, we were excited to document Rita and Jack’s November wedding at the Dockside lounge! We ourselves had an intimate wedding so we were interested to see how an intimate wedding at the lounge would be designed and celebrated. Rita and Jack are a cool couple so we knew this would be a cool wedding. Be sure to watch the slideshow to see more of the inside ceremony. And yes, it was November, and Rita was über brave – no coat! Check it out!

Sneak Peek of Gorgeous Gambier Island Wedding of Ursula and Rob
We jumped at the invitation to photograph Ursula and Rob’s wedding on Gambier Island. We were introduced to the couple through Jenna of Revel Events, who magically orchestrated a stellar wedding on the remote island 45 minutes from Vancouver. We will have many more gorgeous pictures to come (including a shot of the suckling pig from Savoury City!) but wanted to throw out a sneak peek for the time being. Thanks for having us, Ursula and Rob!

LOVED the John Deere with the Just Married – we have a story to tell you about that later…

Love this shot of Rob’s parents watching the ceremony.

We’re no Tim Hortons!
Have you ever had a latte from Tim Hortons? I have, and they’re a far cry from a latte crafted at 49th Parallel or Wicked Cafe (my two favs in Vancouver).
I (Jen) am a nurse. Imagine you needed a medication injection. Would you rather have me do it or would you trust your friend who says she can give it to you because she’s taken Tylenol before?
You’d probably prefer I do it because I’m a trained professional, I know anatomy, I know my equipment, and I’ve been giving injections for years. Right?
Nursing is an art and a science.
Many professions are.
Imagine wanting to build a new house. You hire an architect to design it, not a friend who might be good at sketching. The architect knows the science and has the artistic vision. She knows what works and what doesn’t, how to create and compose, and how to bring the artistic vision to reality.
So why would you trust your uncle or friend to capture your wedding instead of hiring a professional photographer?
bOB and I got into this conversation on the weekend because I went to a salon and had a consultation with a colourist about doing my hair for our upcoming wedding. This guy, Malcolm (whom I LOVE), listens to your ideas and your vision of what you would like, but he also looks at your skin tone, your face and hands, and he tells you honestly what he thinks would work for you and what would not. He’s been at this profession for 25 years, having trained specifically in being a colourist – he doesn’t even cut hair because he’s that specialized and he’s that passionate about having you look your best.
Sure, I could go to any run of the mill salon and say I want a deep dark burgundy red (that would essentially wash me out and make me look like death warmed over) and they’d do it for me, because they want the money.
Or I could go to someone who has the talent and skill, the extensive training, the vision, and the passion to do it right.
I don’t go to Tim Hortons for my latte. They’re great at what they do – but that is producing coffee and donuts for the masses.
I don’t get my friends to give me injections.
I care who colours my hair.
I’m sure your uncle is an excellent accountant and your friend is an awesome day care teacher. But just because they’ve bought a DSLR and can read the instruction booklet, are they professional photographers?
Pro photogs often joke about “Uncle Bob” showing up at a wedding and ruining the shots. Here’s one Uncle bOB you actually want taking your wedding photos. bOB graduated from art school in photography and illustration and has been a pro for 10 years. (And he just happens to be an uncle to my niece and nephews.)
